Who fact-checked them?
Really like this episode especially the part about MSG as it is a very common for misconceptions.
But please don’t conflict that with racism, you can’t be racist against foods.
Every single culture/religion has hesitation towards foreign food.
Else the adversity towards kinds of food that is not Halal or Kosha is also racism or is it cultural/religious misconception?
Rats aren’t people…yet.
"The best nutritional substance is a grain of salt." I love it!
“Nice and yellow”
I don’t understand how sourness is considered a single basic flavour. Tart fruits taste totally different (which I don’t like) to fermented things like miso & vinegar (which I love). Is this because tart fruits are sour + sweet while fermented things are sour + umami?
@ 26:28 – it’s turmeric not tumeric
The body: has almost 30 subsystems to grant the acidity between 6.73 – 6.75
People: let’s try to beat millions years of evolution, unbalancing the pH
🤦♂️
Well turmeric have many antibiotic properties.
"The best nutritional supplement is a grain of salt"
I’m stealing this.
Toomeric. Tuhmeric.
Not termeric. Had to stop the video a minute and a half in because I can’t get past her saying it like that.
What does racism have to do with food. I can’t believe you brought up racism with respect to msg. Scishow is getting too woke. Stay with science and out of politics or lose followers. In fact unsubscribed as of now

Lol a grain of salt

Sooo…my migraines and the migraines of my friends are caused by…racism? Racism causes migraines. Who knew? Funny thing: If I tell someone that alcohol triggers my migraines (or possibly it’s racism. Might have to do a double blind with that one.), they immediately acknowledge that. If I mention that MSG triggers migraines, then it’s either anecdotal or racist and can be dismissed.
Chocolate isn’t for your physical health, it’s for your mental health.
makes my poop nice? and also yellow? I will just eat the spice cuz i want polite poops
Well, tumeric and chocolate are tasty 😋😋😋😋
nice fishy shirt !
We need a video debunking the “raw dog food has health benefits” thing
Bruh it feels like
I know some people who dislike meat for taste reason. Im wondering if they have problem with the umami flavor in particular
People with anxiety and depression should avoid MSG. It’s well established in those communities of people. Its even on webmd. Quit promoting it to being harmless when its not. Don’t believe me google it.
Some days I feel like this guy is the most annoying presenter on Youtube.
Also, audio guy who mixes this.
It’s not a contest to be the loudest. Calm the eff down.
(seriously my volume knob only has one more notch lower, after that it’s just off).
MSG is toxic check your facts
One of the hardest things to study is diets and their benefits.
Because it is very hard to do good tests as people will never submit to all doing exactly the same diet for long periods of time.
And we are not even taking into account that most people do not live the same life health wise, so the result could be different depend on the amount of exercise or sleep or a host of other factors that is related to health.
I wanna send this to every MLM hun who tries to sneak into my DMs 🤣
88 Soy Lattes. It cured my cancer…by killing me via heart attack.
All I heard is i need to eat like 8 bars of milk chocco a day or I’ll get stupid
Health food trend that has good evidence for being the primary cause for metabolic dysfunction and atherosclerosis.
Excess Polyunsaturated fats.
Particularly Linoleic Acid, C18:2n6, is a problem due to ease of oxidation, Metabolites, or oxidized Metabolites.
There’s even evidence that this is a primary cause of cancer and Alzheimer’s, due to the above effects, and their long term toxic effects on your mitochondria.
Plenty to discuss, but too much for a YouTube comment.
Many do a good overview of these issues, and review the literature, way better than I ever could.

And many more…
This video made me lus for a Turmeric latte, so I made myself one and drank it while hearing about its uselessness. At least it is yummy 🙂
Seeing Michael makes my day better
I’m from India and turmeric is an everyday thing in our curries. The major role is to give yellow color to the curry, not more than that. Its mostly a religious thing. We put it in food to make it more "holy" and apply it on the face when someone gets married.
I’m still going to cook my rice with turmeric mixed in the water because it’s pretty and tastes good.
Ive been wondering about the antioxidant thing for MONTHS. i knew there was something fishy about the contradictory studies.
She looks like Amy Farrah Fowler from the Big bang theory 😁😁
Thank god. I thought you were going to take down black beans.
turmeric is the kind of thing brazilian grandmothers say will cure anything; it’s actually a really common ingredient in brazilian cuisine
They are all scams.
I have crohns and turmeric is a godsend
maybe understand what the implication is here and be more responsible.
Ajinomoto, also known as the king of flavour
actually, there is one part of msg that IS inherently asian- the guy who discovered it. So, we can all thank that guy for purifying deliciousness into a powdered form.
Okay MSG my not be that bad for you but it isn’t healthy either. It’s nothing but one single molucule. Same taste but really healthy? Go for pure nutritional yeast. It’s so much better/tastier!
Two chocolate bars per day? There ought to be some international agency to prevent horrors like that from happening.
Scientists: Can you think better?
Me: err, yeah sure.
Scientists: Here, have another chocolate bar.
Guy: rutabagas are good for you.
Me: Who are you?
Guy: I sell rutabagas.
1,000,000 test subjects=1 guy living 10 minutes longer than expected=10,000,000 units sold at $20 per bottle.
This doesn’t show antioxidants are not effective, it shows antioxidants SUPPLEMENTS are not effective. Just as vitamin supplements are not as effective as just eating the damn whole fruit. There are so many things within fruit and vegetable and I am a strong believer that they all work together to make the perfect healthy food for humans.
P.s don’t consume turmeric with certain antibiotics. It weakens the effectiveness of the antibiotics by a certain significant percentage. The study can be found online.
Turmeric is good for you.
People have used it for literally thousands of years.
The conflicting studies are just that, “conflicting”.
Sure it might be overhyped, but at its core it’s good for your health.
Of course, anything in excess can be dangerous to your body, even water.
Thanks for explaining the ugly history of MSG. We can’t let science be weaponized as a justification for bigotry….again.
