The Disturbing Truth about Vitamin Supplements – Sharp Science

According to the Council for Responsible Nutrition, vitamins and dietary supplements are $122 billion industry. However, most people don’t know that the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements as strictly as prescription medications. In fact, supplement companies don’t even need to prove that the actual ingredients match the label. Most of the time, if you have a balanced diet, supplements are at the very least placebos, and at the most, something that might kill you.

    Lol the multivitamin stuff is a fad. All placebo. You cant digest everything in a multi vitamin. You can barely digest powder form as is. Its bad for your kidneys if anything.

    Vitamin c is not easily digested either it will just go straight through you while giving you diarrhea

    Good luck getting enough Vitamin K2 in your diet or Vitamin D if you are living in a cold climate.

    What a bunch of BS. Vitamin supplements are a must for some people. I personally use a multi vitamin pack consisting of 12 pills every other day. I’ve lost weight, feel great, joints are better, etc. I do agree that too much is too much. That’s why I skip a day.

    High amounts of anything is bad, but most of all Americans have mineral deficiencies and without supplementing them it’s impossible to get all the minerals our bodies need to thrive. Listen to Dr’s and you’ll definitely not live to be 100, besides what’s the average lifespan of a Dr???

    If you’re poor, just buy a house! The whole reason I eat multivitamins is that I HATE vegetables and beans. I was hoping to learn to what extent, if at all, can multivitamins supplement nutrition or cover gaps in the diet. I don’t need someone to tell me get some sunlight instead of taking vitamin D supplement. The whole reason to consider vitamin D supplement is if you can’t get sunlight. (Just an example. I don’t actually take vitamin D supplement.)

    I saw a video that tested vitamins By pulling them in the oven. And they said real supplements will not melt. So they did a test and there were some that melted and some that did not melt. So I did the test as well in my oven. Now when you have things like veggie gel caps that seems like itโ€™s going to melt. What do you think about that?

    Well, not everyone can afford to supply all the daily nutrients needed for a balanced body. Supplements are good. Just trust a good source and learn what your body lacks.

    Most synthetic man made elements are not absorbed by your body, vitamins etc, they go right through you, but if the source is natural, fruits etc…, they are absorbed, so our body must have a way to know that the molecular composition of these compounds although similar is in fact different in some way.

    I was always skeptical. My family is addicted to vitamins I mean they have at least 15 vitamin containers on the shelf and more in the pantry . Everyone in my fam except my mom and me is addicted to vitamins . I had arm pain for 3 weeks and my dad decided to put me on muscle vitamins , fish oil , and potassium because he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me and didn’t want to take me to the doctor ๐Ÿ˜ž. So I told my mom who is luckily a nurse what was going on and she said that taking stuff like I just listed everyday which what I was told to do by my dad is WRONG! And is very bad for your heart ! So I’m glad that I forget to take it everyday โ˜บ

    I do take a multivitamin everyday and a allergy pill doesn’t really make me feel better tho

    What do you think about natureโ€™s bounty with biotin? It does help my hair and nails tbh and I donโ€™t take anything else. I do follow a pretty healthy and varied diet plus exercise ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’m pregnant and with vitamin D deficiency- it’s winter and I can’t stand the cold so…. I gotta take the supplements and prenatal but like overall I dont feel any different and i dont really care for vitamins, I’m only taking them because I havent had a good diet (due to being poor and in a poor environment) and well.. the vitamin d deficiency so like I’m just gonna keep taking those too until babeh is born cause otherwise I’m really prolly not getting the vitamins I really need

    I purchase veggies and fruits and then each day I make a veggie smoothie. Put (2) Kiwi’s to mask the veggie taste and it will taste like a fruit drink. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
