Exercise Testing: Current Trends & Sport-Specific Examples:Move United Virtual Leadership Conference

In this presentation, attendees will hear about the current trends of exercise tests and sport-specific related examples in adapted sports. I will discuss the efficacy and efficiency of primary exercise tests being performed and measures being collected for athletic purposes. Discussion will consist of comparing and contrasting current exercise testing batteries used for disabled sports. Content will be presented regarding disability-specific characteristics. Concerning sport-specific characteristics, I will also briefly discuss implementation. Finally, I will offer examples in which individuals or teams can become involved with universities for laboratory tests to be performed.

Speaker: Madi Currie – Research Assistant at Lakeshore Foundation
Madi Currie is a Research Assistant under the UAB/Lakeshore Research Collaborative at Lakeshore Foundation. Her daily tasks include working with disabled populations to measure the effectiveness of a home-based exercise program intervention and telehealth-communication. Madi is heavily involved in Lakeshore’s sports science research which consists of testing recreational and Paralympic athletes. Prior to her role at Lakeshore, she received her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences from Samford University in May of 2019. Madi spent one year as a collegiate athlete and obtained the title Second Flight Champion Singles Women’s Tennis 2016 for the state of Mississippi. During her personal time Madi enjoys spending time with family, exploring the nature scene in Birmingham, and continuing her involvement in health-related fields of study.
