I just eat whole foods. If I do buy prepackaged it has to contain all real ingredients. And if I feel tempted to eat that cupcake or cookie at work, I don’t deprive myself but I can usually taste the preservatives and food dyes that remind me I don’t really enjoy those foods.

I’ve found along with portion control and having an understanding of how many calories you’re taking in in a ballpark figure, that exercising daily helps me to choose healthier foods. Because I want energy for my walks and workouts, I’m going to choose salads and meats over cookies or pasta. The healthier foods energize you so much that you want to eat them to keep driving your fitness.

Im going to make this really f’ing simple to end this.
If you eat the calories of the weight you want to be eventually you will be that weight over time. IT’S JUST THAT SIMPLE.
Lets say you are a 5’10" male then all you have to do is go to a calorie calculator. Lets say you want to be 160lbs, then you type in 160 lbs and it tells you 1700 calories a day BMR. So if you are 250lbs and you start eating 1700 calories a day then OVER TIME you will lose weight and stabilize at 160lbs. If you want to be 200lbs at 5’10" then you need to eat 1898 calories, meaning that if you are 160 lbs and you eat 1898 calories or more a day you will OVER TIME gain weight to become 180lbs. (this is all BMR for simplicity not counting exercise or anything like that)
It’s just that simple. Calories in calories out. Figure out what the calories are for the weight you want to be and stick with it.
Eating whole foods is the BEST way to stay healthy. It’s just that simple.
If you starve yourself you will eventually breakdown and binge, it happens every single damn time. If you eat some crazy diet eventually you will break down and binge eat. Don’t "diet", change your diet as in the food you eat regularly.
Greg Doucette is the best person I have seen on this, combined with others.
If you want to really lose weight the best way is to eat low calorie, high volume foods that you find tasty and can eat forever.
FOR EXAMPLE:
I love Strawberry protein icecream, I will probably eat that for the rest of my life because it is tasty, filling, relatively cheap, and it has a shit ton of antioxidants.
I personally love frozen broccoli florets because they are cheap, easy to cook (just throw in the microwave for 5 minutes), and they go on rice, egg whites, etc.
I love egg whites so I eat more egg whites to fill up my stomach and keep me full…..
Find the low calorie healthy foods that you enjoy and can incorporate into your diet PERMINENTLY.
It’s really that simple. Don’t go on some crazy diet, don’t take pills, don’t starve yourself. Just find low calorie, healthy foods that you enjoy, and try to stick to your calories as best as possible.
Yes its call anti inflammatory diet lol,,if I listen to my body Il be eating bunch o junk. I have underlying health conditions and a rare kidney disease. I eat no sugar , plant based , no artificial coloring or processed foods. Yes I am working with my dr and a renal dietician so I am not dying or malnourished etc. If old me ate what i wanted…it would be white breads, sugar, pizza order outs, soda, chips , cookies , processed pre packaged foods/sweets.
I have slowly been losing weight over the past seven months and this approach is working for me. It’s been a lot of experimenting on how much I have to eat and not feeling bad when I do eat too much. Cutting out sugar and all the food I love doesn’t work, but eating less of it does.
The key thing about taking this at a slower pace means I have been able to build healthier habits that have lasted months.
