A lot of the 1980s fads were related to fashion such as hair, clothes and makeup which are profiled in this video: Ten Fads from the 1980s that you may have fondly or not so fondly remembered or maybe you’ve just mercifully forgotten them. Not to worry, we’re here to bring them back in all their neon emblazoned glory. If you weren’t around in the 1980s, get ready for some fun, bizarre, questionable and cool fads that seemed like a good idea at the time.

"I want my MTV" didn’t hear that until 1982 but it was a commercial phrase I will never forget. Much like Where’s The Beef from 83 or 84.
In the comments below, let us know what your favorite 1980s fad was that might not have appeared in this video . This is Part 1 of the "Fads from the 1980s" video series. Part 2 is here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rmIhxg2F8I – Please Subscribe and Thank you for your support!
Don’t forget parachute pants! Embarrassing now but in the 80’s they were everywhere and were considered "totally rad."
The boombox: bane of sleeping people everywhere.
Missin the daisy’s dukes shorts
Have to love the "SPIKED MOHAWK"!
the 80’s were awesome I had the funnest times in my life in the 80’s I was born in 74 so I was 6 when the 80’s started. just watching this video and typing this I’m actually going back in time I really don’t remember 80 or 81 but from 82 and on I really remember things I did and places I’ve been. I was also the happiest I’ve ever been in my life during the 80’s
Leg warmers are coming back!! I had a 6 year old student of mine wearing them at school Monday! 😄👍❤
I wonder would a kid of the 80s get along with a kid of today? Education and human communication was are different in both eras.
MTV…..that is when REAL MUSIC was played
I was so kool then. Not so much now.
On the leg warmers photo; what, exactly, is the chick in pink doing there? I don’t believe it’s her legs she’s thinking about.
I still have my leg warmers…lol
And I style my hair the same way.
Mainly because I have big hair no matter what since its wavy curly and long.
Our hair and make up had to be just right otherwise, no way would we go out in public with bad hair and no make up..lol.
I really get a kick when I see youtube videos on how to do your hair big like in the 80s…lol
I’m thinking ok first we never put so much product in our hair only Aqua net maybe finesse hair gel for the bangs. OMG!! The other day I watched on youtube a young lady doing the "the 80s eye make up" and I’m thinking I never saw any of my friends or anyone in my school put liquid eyeliner using masking tape. It was bizarre to see this. She put masking tape on the outer end of the eyelid to make the fish tail straight I guess. The once she drew it on she then pulled that masking tape from the side of her eye. I’m thinking that’s the worse thing you can do to that sensitive skin around the eye. Wait until you’re 40 and up and start to see crows feet and sagging on your eyes. Oh geez! Lol…
bleached washed double denim
We had style, MTV, and the airwaves pumped out metal, new wave, punk and more. Crazy hobbies and fads. And we were and still are unbroken by mere words. Skin thick as a coat and you gave as good as you got. Great times! 👍🏾
I would like to share it’s me at the 9:00 minute mark. I know this reveals my age, but also reveals my wicked hair and video game prowess. This photo was from an arcade at Birch Bay, Washington. lol.
Somebody should of paused the time in the 80s
I mean…. Leg warmers should make a comeback!
Some of the big hair styles on women were very attractive, not for a guy at all.
The last days of actual face to face friendships. You had maybe 20 good friends in real life that you would see a few times a week- not 3,796 Fakebook friends.
Best decade ever.
Trucks were trucks
and girls were hot.
This was when you went to a concert and lifted up a lighter instead of a cell phone flashlight.
Acid wash jeans are way better than ripped jeans we have nowasays.
Someone should have kicked my a$$ over my jambox
Ah yes, pope John Paul the second, known for his breakdancing skills.
love to go back to the 80s,,
I remember them all and especially the Rubik’s cube. I couldn’t solve it but, took it apart to put it back together but, later on finally solved it without taking it apart. Really enjoyed your video!
Generation X were the Children of the Revolution ….
I was a kid of the 80’s. I hated the fashion of the 80’s at the time, now I just look back in nostalgia. My Walkman was my life support machine. I’d go to school with a bag full of tapes and batteries. PAC Man rescued me after a "tough" day at school.
Atari Demon Attck
No one could beat me
Hahaha
OMG I feel old now LOLOL!! Remember all of this…..
I still have my Rubiks cube! I also remember going to arcades and spending who knows how much money in quarters in the arcade games lol
Aqua net churning ozone depleting aerosols into the environment. Later hairsprays came out with a special cap that you used to pump the bottle with.
And the second Video on MTV? fish heads with billy mummy from lost in space fame
I think Leg Warmers are one of the sexiest things.
Born in 1958 and still haven’t grown up yet 🙃
My high school senior year book is filled with girls with high hair and aqua net hair doo’s. I was a metal head with long straight hair. High school actually had a smoking lounge outside most times it was cigarettes sometimes those funny smokes…
They say things go ina cycle. I mean vinyl records had a comeback and it’s high time we refound the 80’s again and hopefully it will stay. I’m not liking this new centuary.
Ooohhh…The ‘80’s…Big Hair, Neon Colors, leg warmers and so much more…
Today’s kids will never know the pain of not having enough quarters to finish a game. I feel sorry for them, I really do.
Stevie Nicks had the best 80s hair.
i miss the 80’s because they were the prime of my life, and i had a great time.
I remember kids bringing sheets of cardboard to school so that they could break dance at recess.
Funny how MTV supposedly killed the radio star but the radio still plays music whereas MTV doesn’t.
Thank you walkman for not making me listen to country music when on long trips with my family to go visit other family.
GOD, i MISS the 80’s….
That WALKMAN tho 😍
Enough said !!! …
I guess they called it break dancing cus you are gonna break some stuff doing those moves lol 😂
I miss the 80s
I remember the walkman, had one myself. Also had a portable stereo I got for my birthday in 1986.
